Getting to know Sarah

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Sooo who am I? I am a 29 year old girl, living in the Midwest, and has big dreams. I have been married for almost 5 years to an amazing man and we have a son who was born June 2015.  I come from a family with an older sister and my parents, who have been happily married for 34 years. I have 2 handsome nephews who are my WORLD. They have taught me so much and they think of me as that "old" lady. Boy, they have not seen anything yet. Just wait til I am 40, boys.

And here is where I begin my "Skinny fat to Skinny fit" journey.  My husband and I had just moved into our new house in October 2012 and we joined a local gym right away. My husband has always been very fit and athletic. He played football, baseball, and did track & field in college. He knew what protein shakes were and recovery drinks as well. He would hit the gym daily. So visiting a gym a few times a week was new to me. Me on the other hand, I didn't care about those shakes. I have always been thin. I would run miles after miles, be able to eat anything and not gain much weight.  I would tell myself, " I will eat whatever I want and work a little bit harder at the gym to sweat it off. Then there came college. I gained about 20 pounds in college. In my first year moving back home in 2009, I lost the first 10 pounds no problem. Then it was the last 10 pounds, I struggled with.

So we join this gym. I love it. It's near our house, it's cheap, and it's a super clean. After months of being there, I would look around and see all these nicely fit and built girls. I wanted to look like that. I wanted to be THAT! I signed up for a personal trainer in December 2012.  I was with my first trainer for about 2 months until they let her go. Ok, here we go getting to know another trainer. I trained with her for about 2 months while training for my first 1/2 marathon and then she moved on to a different gym. Ok, so maybe 3rd time's a charm?! So here I am meeting my 3rd trainer in 4 months and I have 2 months left in my contract. At this point, I wasn't seeing any results yet I was busting my behind like no other. I was starting to doubt myself and wondering what was going on! Here I am spending all this money on a trainer, and I am getting ZERO results. So I sit down with my new trainer, Emily, and discussed my goals. I told her I wanted to loose weight and feel good about myself. I really wanted to get in shape before I became pregnant so I would be able to continue with that. She goes okay, WHY? Why do you want to loose weight? I sat there. I was embarrassed because no one has ever dug this deep as to why I wanted these goals. I didn't know what I wanted at this time besides to feel good about my appearance and loose weight. Gave her a picture of Carrie Underwood's legs and said, "I want those".  One day  Emily asked me how my nutrition was. Oh its good, ya know. We try to stay in and eat. (that was my definition of good nutrition). Emily goes, Okay what do you eat?  So I started telling her about the children's cereal I eat every morning, the lunch meat sandwiches, frozen meals, and left overs I eat for lunch and dinner. Snacks, mehhhh I may have one a day. And that is when she introduced me to "CLEAN EATING". I have never heard the word before. She sent me home that day with a pretty broad meal plan to follow. And that is when my life changed!  I would check in every week with my meal plan, she would highlight what I needed to change. Some days it looked like my 2 year old niece took a highlighter to my page. I knew I had to change. So then came the end of my contract and knew I could not afford to continue with her as much as I wanted to due to remodeling my projects we wanted to complete on our new home. I was SO please at my results, I lost inches, pounds, and gained the muscle I never had.  The fat finally turned into MUSCLE!! I was so scared to go on my own. So my husband became my trainer at the gym. Liftin weights, hear all the bodybuilders that go to my gym, grunt and yell. I knew I had to do this for my future.

I was looking on Pinterest one day for meal plan ideas. I had to get into a new routine of doing different types of meal planning since I didn't have my trainer to follow. I came upon a blog. The blogger was a Beachbody coach. Her blog was absolutely amazing. I emailed it to friends, family, anyone who I talked to about clean eating. It was something I became obsessed talking about. I reached out to her to be my coach on Beachbody.com. We started emailing and asked me about joining her clean eating challenge. OMG, that is what I need. I talked to my husband, who has been my BIGGEST supporter, and he said if that's what you want then go for it. Then came the price. I swallowed it and told myself I am getting "free" support in this group. I NEED this to succeed on my own. I was about 2 weeks into the group and told myself over and over, "This is for me. I want to help other people". My coach, Melanie,  kept advertising for this coach apprenticeship opening. I was terrified to send her the email letting her know I was interested, BUT it was time to step outside of my comfort zone and do this for me, my family, and OUR FUTURE.  Well, here goes nothing.

AND.................. here I am as a new Beachbody Coach getting ready to start my first Clean Eating Challenge group.

I hope you enjoy my blog! Please feel free to message with an questions.

Your coach,

SJB
